Frontenac Silences – Episode II
At dawn, everything becomes quieter.
The city is still asleep, the streets nearly empty, and silence takes on an unfamiliar presence.
The château rises softly illuminated, as though watching over a frozen scene suspended between fading darkness and the slow arrival of light.
To capture this reflection, nothing elaborate was used.
I simply placed my iPhone beneath the lens at the moment of exposure.
A simple, almost instinctive gesture, meant to extend the scene as I was experiencing it, without trying to transform it.
These are the moments I’m drawn to photographing.
When time slows down,
when the city reveals itself differently,
and when emotion emerges from a fragile balance between light, silence… and the way we choose to look at it.
Part of the Frontenac Silences séries, this artwork explores those suspended moments when architecture, light, and urban stillness temporarily transform the city into a contemplative landscape.
The reflection visible in the image was created directly in-camera, through an instinctive gesture intended to extend the light and atmosphere of the moment without altering its feeling.
Through empty streets, winter lights, and the subtle contrasts of early morning, the series seeks less to document Québec than to preserve its sensation.
That of a silent, almost motionless city suspended between memory, light, and the passage of time.
Each image preserves something ephemeral.
A light.
A presence.
The fragile silence of the early hours.
