The Steeple of Souls
When night falls, the town changes its face. The streets empty out, the cold settles in, and the shadows slowly take hold of the place.
On its hill, the Saint-Georges church seems to watch over this world turned strange. Its silhouette stands out against the heavy sky, while its glowing cross pierces the darkness. You could almost believe it is there to show the way to those who have lost it.
The trees are bare. Their black branches stretch over the church, as if trying to hold on to something in this October night. On the ground, a light mist wraps around everything and gives the scene an unreal feel.
The streetlights still light up the road, but their glow seems so fragile against the darkness closing in.
There is something strange about this landscape. A mix of calm and unease, like another story the town keeps hidden from those who don't take the time to look.
And up there, the cross keeps shining.
This photographic work explores the boundary between the familiar and the mysterious, that moment when a town landmark transforms as night falls. The Saint-Georges church, photographed on an October evening between the mist, the bare trees and the warm light glowing on the stone.
