Frontenac Silences – Episode VI
Just steps away from the château, the square feels suspended in time.
The statue dominates the scene, motionless, facing a sky heavy with clouds.
Around it, the trees darken the space while allowing a soft, almost unreal light to filter through.
The château emerges behind them, partially hidden, like a silent presence keeping watch.
Within this atmosphere, everything feels slowed down.
Footsteps become quieter.
Voices dissolve into the damp evening air.
The dark stone of the monument.
The cold light of the sky.
And the warmer glows escaping from the surrounding buildings.
For this image, I wanted to let the square breathe.
Not to reveal the château entirely, but rather to suggest its presence.
Sometimes, what remains hidden tells as much as what is visible.
In moments like these, Québec seems to belong to another era.
As though time slows just enough for the city to whisper its stories.
Part of the Frontenac silences series, this artwork explores those moments when light, architecture, and silence transform the city into an almost timeless setting.
Through empty squares, monuments, and the contrasts of the winter sky, the series seeks less to document Québec than to preserve its presence.
That of a quiet city shaped by memory, light, and the passage of time.
Each image preserves something ephemeral.
A light.
A presence.
The fragile silence of the early hours.
