Silences du Frontenac - Épisode 5

Night slowly falls over Québec.
Clouds gather in the sky as the glow of streetlights begins to reflect across the wet pavement.

Around the château, silhouettes move quietly, almost erased by the cold and the snow.
The city continues to live, yet everything feels slowed down.
As though winter imposes its own rhythm.

Within this muted atmosphere, the Château Frontenac stands watch.
Massive, motionless, almost timeless.

There is a quiet contrast within this image.
The warmth of amber light sliding across the stone.
The deep blue of the winter sky.
And between them, the reflective street capturing every trace of light.

For this photograph, I simply waited.
For the night to settle deeply enough to transform the scene.
For the lights to find their balance.
For the city and the château to coexist, for a few moments, within the same silence.

Sometimes an image does not tell a spectacular story.
It simply preserves an atmosphere.

A suspended moment, between winter and night.

Part of the Frontenac Silences series, this artwork explores those moments when Québec slows beneath winter and evening light, revealing a quieter city, almost motionless.

Through the contrasts between snow, urban lights, and the depth of the winter sky, the series seeks less to document the city than to preserve its feeling.
That of a place shaped by time, light, and the memory of all who pass through it.

Each image preserves something ephemeral.

A light.
A presence.
The fragile silence of the early hours.
