Frontenac Silences – Episode III
At dawn, everything still feels fragile.
The city is slowly beginning to awaken, yet the silence still lingers.
The first traces of light barely break through the gray sky, while the cobblestones reflect the glow of the château like a quiet echo in the cold morning air.
The noise of the day has not yet returned.
Footsteps are rare.
And the architecture feels almost alive, motionless yet deeply present.
The château does not dominate the scene.
It simply watches over it, above a city preparing to reclaim its rhythm.
Nothing about this image was forced.
I waited for the light to settle naturally between the trees.
For the mist to remain dense enough to soften the outlines without erasing the details.
A moment of observation more than a staged composition.
It is at dawn that I feel the strongest connection to a place.
When photography becomes less a technical act and more a way of inhabiting silence.
Part of the Frontenac Silences series, this artwork explores those fragile moments when Québec seems suspended between night and day, between presence and disappearance.
Through winter lights, quiet streets, and the mist-filled atmosphere of the early morning hours, the series seeks less to document the city than to preserve its sensation.
That of a place still wrapped in silence, where light, architecture, and time coexist in an almost motionless balance.
Each image preserves something ephemeral.
A light.
A presence.
The fragile silence of the early hours.
