Autumn from Above

I was already fascinated by autumn before I had ever experienced it.

 

As a child, I only knew autumn through movies and books.

 

I would look at those breathtaking forests ablaze with colour, fascinated by their beauty, without really knowing what it felt like to watch an entire forest transform before your eyes.

 

Then I moved to Quebec.

And I finally discovered autumn.

 

For 18 years now, I have never grown tired of this spectacle. The shortening days, the crisp air slowly settling in, the wind sending leaves swirling through the air… and above all, the trees that, for a few short weeks, take on shades of yellow, orange, red, and every colour in between.

 

Every year, the spectacle returns.

And every year, I see it as if for the first time.

 

From the ground, autumn is already breathtaking. You walk among the trees, hear the leaves crunch beneath your feet, and discover bursts of colour around every bend in the trail.

 

But from above, the forest reveals another dimension.

 

The trees become an immense mosaic of colour. Reds blend into oranges, yellows burst through the evergreens, and deep greens add depth and contrast to the scene.

 

From above, the forest becomes almost abstract. Shapes give way to colour, and the vastness of the landscape reveals itself in a completely different way. This is the vision of autumn I wanted to capture here.
